This workshop has been specifically designed to cover the main issues of LNG contracts. It is an essential workshop that highlights common mistakes to be avoided while preparing delegates for the imminent changes to the industry. This workshop not only addresses all the key clauses in LNG contracts but takes the delegates through a “mock up” draft contract and examples of different types of clauses.

Dr Yvonne Barton
Chairman, British Gas Asia Pacific
Dr Yvonne Barton is an independent expert on LNG projects with an extensive background in the international gas industry who is been based in Italy for 15 years and works in association with the Energy Contract Company (London). Apart from having wide background in the international gas industry and corporate finance, she also has extensive experience in LNG sale & purchase agreements and as an advisor on regulation of gas and LNG in the EU
Having worked extensively in the Asia-Pacific region and across Europe, Dr Yvonne is a specialist in the development of LNG receiving and regasification facilities; LNG supply sourcing; sale & purchase agreements and provides training in these areas. Dr Yvonne is also an advisor on the regulation of gas and LNG in Europe and an expert in Italian energy markets. Dr Yvonne has a proven track record of tackling difficult projects and making them work with project success achieved through close collaboration with Government.
Dr Yvonne regularly contributes to academic and industry publications on Italian gas market and LNG issues. Dr Yvonne is the author of the chapter ‘LNG production & trading’ in The Technical and Legal Guide to the Global Oil and Gas Industry, published in 2011.
For more than ten years, Dr Yvonne held a number of senior executive roles at BG Group including Head of Mergers & Acquisitions and Head of E&P UK Gas Sales. As Chairman of British Gas Asia Pacific based in Singapore she developed new gas and LNG projects across the Region.
As President of BG in Italy, Dr Yvonne was responsible for exploration, production and power operations as well as a new LNG import facility.
Her early career was with BP Engineering in the design and construction of offshore oil and gas facilities and later in reservoir engineering.
She has conducted training on LNG and gas for corporate clients in-house in Colombia, Germany, India, Italy, Jamaica, Lithuania, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Turkey, Uganda, UK. Public training courses: Australia, Dubai, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Trinidad, and the UK.
Case study 1: LNG SALES CONTRACT
- A detailed review, in workshop format, of the terms and conditions in recent LNG sales and purchase contracts in the region. Using a composite of such contracts, this case study identifies trends in the developing field of LNG contracting, highlights all the issues that need to be addressed, and examines the various contractual means that are currently being used to handle them.
Case Study 2: ASSESSING PRICE TERMS
- A detailed review, in workshop format, of the range of price terms in a hypothetical contract negotiation.
Case Study 3 EXAMPLES OF PRICE REVIEW CLAUSES
A discussion of example clauses taken from contracts in current use.
Case Study 4: CALCULATIONS OF MARKET VALUE
An example calculation of the segmentation of a market with the consequent price weighting.
