This three-day interactive workshop will develop the practical skills and knowledge of line managers and HR specialists who are tasked with managing organisation change, restructuring and redundancy. It will include how to take the pivotal role of reacting to business demands while working sympathetically with staff who are at risk of redundancy.
This workshop/ training will also show the participants how to design a program and process that will follow employment law when implementing redundancies/retrenchments, and demonstrate to all concerned that this difficult situation is being dealt with sensitively and fairly. It will enable the manager to handle the discussion in a sensitive and understanding way and get the message across without being misunderstood.
Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss their detailed work related issues and challenges in a safe, supportive and confidential learning environment.
At the end of the day, there will be opportunity for delegates to master practical techniques and learn legal constraints in implementing a smooth restructuring transition.

- An ability to recognise and document the rationale for the restructure and redundancy.
- Understanding both the legal and organisational procedures in relation to restructures and redundancies and how to minimise legal challenges.
- How to handle the redundancy process in order to minimise the impact on the individual and the organisation.
- How to prepare business managers for their role in the change process to lead and facilitate an effective change process.
- How to create a Change Plan – including business rationale, stakeholders, impact on policies and procedures and future organisation training and development needs.
- Recognising the importance of measuring success and feedback on the change project.

Geoffrey Milton is an international HR director with over 20 years experience of working in the UK and continental Europe, gained in a variety of businesses, including shipping and logistics, aviation, telecoms and technology, and retail. These include The P&O Group, The Maersk Company, AirFrance- KLM and Colt Technology Services.
His skills lie in working as a business partner with senior managers and their teams on organisation change and development, mergers, performance management as well as sales performance and development. He has helped businesses change and grow to become more effective and profitable while significantly increasing employee energy and engagement.
He is also experienced at working with and leading HR partners across Europe.
Geoff has hands on practical experience of managing organisation change including redundancy and retrenchment. His work includes the following assignments:
- The sale of P&ONedlloyd to The Maersk Company.
- The joint venture and merger of P&O Containers with Nedlloyd Lines shipping.
- The takeover of Cunard Ellerman Shipping by P&O Containers.
- The sale of CityJet/AirFrance KLM to Intro Aviation.

Dr Bala has been recognised for his HRM teaching & research excellence within Malaysia and in Asia.
